Volcano type
Volcanic fields
Areas with dozens or hundreds of small cones, maars and lava flows, most of which erupted only once.
A volcanic field has no single permanent vent – each eruption opens a new one. The result is a wide scatter of cinder cones, maars and short lava flows. The next eruption can happen where there was no volcano before, as at the birth of Parícutin in Mexico in 1943. The Eifel region in Germany is a volcanic field too.
